Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh asparagus
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • cup water
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Wash and dry your asparagus and line them up on a cutting board. Trim the woody ends off and discard them.
  • Place the asparagus in a large skillet, then pour the water over the top.
  • Cover with a lid and steam over medium heat for 3-4 minutes or until they are tender, but not overly soft. Remove the asparagus, set them on paper towels to dry, then discard the water.
  • Add in the butter and once melted, add in the garlic. Sauté for about 20 seconds, making sure not to brown it, or it will become bitter.
  • Add the asparagus back in along with the salt and ground black pepper, then toss in the garlic butter. Serve with your favorite protein.
