🔪 How to Make Dairy-Free Berry Smoothie
Add the frozen berries, unsweetened almond milk, unsweetened coconut cream and honey (or agave) to a high speed blender.
Blend until everything is well combined. Taste it for sweetness, and if you need more, add in more honey. This will vary depending on how ripe your berries are.
You can add in some ice if you’d like your smoothie colder or thicker in consistency.
Serve immediately. You can add some fresh berries and a sprig of mint for a garnish if you'd like.
💡 Tips on How to Freeze Fresh Berries
Freezing berries is a great way to make sure you always have some on hand for smoothies, desserts, and other recipes. Here are some tips for freezing berries effectively:
- Choose fresh, ripe berries: Only choose berries that are fresh and free from bruising or blemishes.
- Wash and dry: Gently wash the berries under cold water and let them dry on a layer of paper towels. You want them to be completely dry so they do not form ice crystals in the freezer.
- Spread them out: Place the washed and dried berries on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper in a single layer.
- Pre-freeze: Put the tray of berries in the freezer for a couple of hours up to overnight. This keeps them from sticking together.
- Transfer to proper containers: Once pre-frozen, transfer the berries to airtight containers or resealable plastic bags. Squeeze out any excess air to minimize freezer burn.
- Label: Write the date they were frozen on the outside of the container. For best results, plan on using them within 6 to 12 months.
☑️ Storage Instructions for Vegan Smoothie
While frozen berry smoothies are best when freshly made, you can place the prepared smoothie mixture in the freezer for a couple of hours.
🔄 Substitutions and Additions
- Sweetener: If you don't have the honey substitute I used, which is perfect for Keto and low carb diets, you can use a little stevia or even a little sugar-free maple syrup instead. If you're not on Keto or low carb, you can use regular honey, or agave if you're Vegan.
- Other fruits: Berries are a great choice for Keto, but if you're not super strict with your carbs, you can add some mango chunks, peaches, cantaloupe, banana or honeydew melon.
- Creamy base: Instead of almond milk and coconut cream, you can use cashew milk, coconut milk, regular or skim milk, or even a little Greek yogurt.
Also be sure to try this cinnamon roll smoothie made with healthy bananas, dates and oats. Or if you're looking for more of a meal replacement, try this cookies and cream protein shake that is a great sweet treat!

If you're berries are not frozen, you'll want to add a little ice to make the smoothie nice and frosty.
